习语：风水轮流转
参加过同学聚会的人最深的感受是什么？变化！当年默默无闻、闷头看书的人现在侃侃而谈；当年天天挨批、站墙角的人现在事业如日中天……感叹世事变化，真个是“风水轮流转，三十年河东三十年河西呀！”
习语“shoe is on the other foot”暗含有“风水轮流转”之意，在不同语境下可译为“现在情形与以前不同啦”，“今非昔比”，“三十年河东，三十年河西”。
据说，19世纪以前，鞋和靴子是不分左右脚的，两只鞋随便换着穿。但是如果你的脚一直穿同一只鞋子，久而久之，鞋子的形状就会与穿鞋的脚一模一样。到了这时，如果左脚再穿右脚鞋——不好意思——今非昔比，你很难再像从前那样不分左右脚来穿鞋。
随着时间的推移，现代意义上的“shoe is on the other foot”有了其比喻义：双方地位发生了变化（风水轮流转；三十年河东，三十年河西）；今非昔比（形势与以前不同了）。

最近 NBA 爆出裁判赌球丑闻，这可是新闻猛料，记者们当然不会放过。新闻周刊（NEWSWEEK）采访了多位 NBA 球员，其中艾伦·艾佛森（Allen Iverson）说：“It’s good to see the shoe on the other foot. ” “shoe on the other foot”是什么意思？搜了一下，原来这句话引自“shoe is on the other foot”这个习语，有“风水轮流转”之意，在不同语境下可译为“现在情形与以前不同”，“今非昔比”，“二十年河东，二十年河西”。用现在流行的话说，就是：“小样，你也有今天？！”。了解 NBA 的人都知道，一直以来人们总是指责和裁判发生冲突的球员，认为他们是问题青年。不过这次裁判赌球新闻终于让球员找到反击的理由，出了一口恶气。但是艾佛森毕竟是老江湖了，没有一味地幸灾乐祸，他说：“ To see someone other than players getting talked about and criticized is something I didn’t ever see coming. I’m not happy about it because it makes the entire game look bad, but hopefully those people who think it’s just the players that cause problems will think twice. It’s more complicated than that.”
