IELTS 考试是国际英语语言测试系统（International English Language Testing System ）的简称。它是由剑桥大学考试委员会、英国文化委员会和澳大利亚教育国际开发署共同管理的全球认可的英语语言水平考试。IELTS考试主要测试四个方面的语言能力，即听、说、读、写。在中国，IELTS考试由英国文化协会中国办公室和澳大利亚教育国际开发署联合管理，在遍布全国的21个考试中心举行考试。这些考试中心全部是中国著名的大学。

整个雅思考试包括四个部分：听力（40分钟）、阅读（60分钟）、写作（60分钟）和口语（11-14分钟）。由于是采用听、说、读、写全面测试，因此雅思考试成绩能够比较全面地测试出考生的英语能力，而不会出现”哑巴英语”或者英语水平”高分低能”的情况。雅思考试由英国文化教育委员会（The British Council）负责，统一组织评判标准是统一的，所有的考官都是经过严格筛选及培训的；所有考试题目的选择都是经过仔细研究后确定的。整个雅思考试由英国文化教育处考官亲自主持。它的听力和口语部分使用英音、澳音及新西兰口音；它的书面考试部分，不采用标准多项选择形式、而以填写单词和短语为主。题目形式多样，能够较好地考察考生的交际英语能力，避免了答题的猜测因素。

雅思成绩与评分标准（满分9分）和雅思考试的成绩计算办法：

9分
Expert User. Has fully operational command of the language: appropriate, accurate and fluent with complete understanding.
成绩极佳,能将英语运用自如,精确、流利并能完全理解.

8分
Very Good User. Has fully operational command of the language with only occasional unsystematic inaccuracies and inappropriacies. Misunderstandings may occur in unfamiliar situations. Handles complex detailed argumentation well.
非常良好,能将英语运用自如,只是偶尔有不连接的错误和不恰当,在不熟悉的状况下可能出现误解,可将复杂细节的争论掌握的相当好.

7分
Good User. Has operational command of the language, though with occasional inaccuracies, inappropriacies and misunderstandings in some situations. Generally handles complex language well and understands detailed reasoning.
良好,有能力运用英语,虽然在某些情况有时会发生不准确、不适当和误解,大致可将复杂的英语掌握的不错,也理解其全部内容.

6分
Competent User. Has generally effective command of the language despite some inaccuracies, inappropriacies and misunderstandings. Can use and understand fairly complex language, paricularly in familiar situations.

及格,大致能有效的运用英语,虽然有不准确、不适当和误解发生,能使用并理解相当复杂的英语,特别是在熟悉的情况时.

5分
Modest User. Has partial command of the language, coping with overall meaning in most situations, though is likely to make many mistakes.Should be able to handle basic communication in own field.

适当及格,可部分运用英语,在大多数情况下可应付全部的意思,虽然可能犯下许多 错误,在本身领域内应可掌握基本的沟通.

4分
Limited User. Basic competence is limited to familiar situations. Has frequent problems in understanding and expression. Is not able to use complex language.

水平有限,只限在熟悉的状况下有基本的理解力,在理解与表达上常发生问题,无法使 用复杂英语.

3分
Extremely Limited User. Conveys and understands only general meaning in very familiar situations. Frequent breakdowns in communication occur.
水平极有限,在极熟悉的情况下,只能进行一般的沟通理解.

2分
Intermittent User. No real communication is possible except for the most basic information using isolated words or short formulae in familiar situations and to meet immediate needs. Has great difficulty understanding spoken and written English.
只属于偶尔使用英语,除非在熟悉的情况,使用单词和简短的短句表达最基本的信息, 在说写方面有重大的障碍.

1分
Non User. Essentially has no ability to use the language beyond possibly a few isolated words.
不能通过,可能只能说几个单词,无法沟通.

IELTS考试成绩计算办法:

Listening & Reading 有0.5分档次(有半分)
Writing & Speaking 只有整数档次(没有半分)
总分：为四项得分平均后，除0.5分外，每次进一个单位(0.5),不能使用四舍五入。
例如:
听力分数 Listening Band 8.0
阅读分数 Reading Band 8.0
写作分数 Writing Band 6.0
口语分数 Speaking Band 7.0
平均分 (8.0+8.0+6.0+7.0)/4=7.25 总分: 7.5
听力分数 Listening Band 6.0
阅读分数 Reading Band 6.0
写作分数 Writing Band 7.0
口语分数 Speaking Band 7.0
平均分(6.0+6.0+7.0+7.0)/4=6.5 总分: 6.5
听力分数 Listening Band 6.0
阅读分数 Reading Band 7.0
写作分数 Writing Band 7.0
口语分数 Speaking Band 7.0
平均分(6.0+7.0+7.0+7.0)/4=6.75 总分: 7.0
